Punk & Pomp – the Mainz Improv Festival from 23 – 26 April 2020!
Mainz Improv Festival celebrates the art of improvisation for the eighth year – come celebrate with us!
Our mission is to bring international, colourful and joyful improv theatre to our guests and participants. We offer a broad variety of international workshops from the most sought after instructors! Our instructors travel to Mainz from Canada, the United States, Spain, Poland and from all over Germany.
We present a variety of brilliant, funny and innovative shows (again partly in english) and a kids show. Our festival is one of the biggest improv festivals in Germany. This years’ festival will take place in THE hotspot of Mainz’ cultural scene. The KUZ – Kulturzentrum Mainz. A beautiful newly rennovated huge show location right next to the big river. Mainz as a city is known for its river Rhine, its carnival, its white wines and its beautiful surrounding landscape (the castles at the Middle Rhine Valley are Unesco world heritage). Come visit us!
What is improv?
Improvisational theatre is a form of live theatre where the cast will make up the story, the characters and even the scenery and plots in the moment. Often shows focus on situational comedy and often the cast will take suggestions from the audience. However, improv can also come in the form of drama, musical, masks – and any other form of theatre! At the improv festival Mainz we showcase everything this artform can offer – presented by the most acclaimed international actors.
Shows are online!
The secret is unveiled: The shows are online, ticket sale has officially started and we could not be more excited. On offer: four shows in German and English, two double-features, two kids’ shows (for free!) and one late night show. And what shows they are! Improv with puppets from Honolulu (“extra creatures”), our headliner’s duo show from Canada/LA (“RN + Cawls”), an explosive show combining love and music (“mixtape for you”), solo improv from Poland (“Adventure Girl”), shortform from Barcelona (“short’n sweet”) and much much more….
Because we see how you’ll want to watch ALL of them (or at least six shows which is the maximum amount possible), we offer the festival pass at a mere 48 Euros. Or even 39 Euros (reduced fee).
Get your tickets while they’re hot.
